Meet our Team

Farah Omar (she/her) is originally from Somalia and has called the Dallas-Fort Worth area home since 2010, after arriving as a refugee. Her journey began with completing high school in Korea through a program designed to help refugee students complete their education. The challenges she faced during resettlement shaped her deep commitment to supporting others in similar situations.

Farah’s advocacy work began in 2013 when she started volunteering with refugees, quickly developing a passion for helping displaced families. In 2014, she became a case manager at a local resettlement agency, where she dedicated herself to empowering refugees by connecting them with resources and support.

With nearly a decade of experience in refugee resettlement, Farah brings her personal experiences and compassion to every role she takes on. In 2023, she joined Bloom to Progress, where she now leads efforts to amplify refugee voices and advocate for their inclusion. Farah’s work continues to reflect her commitment to creating brighter futures for refugee women and newcomers. Her story is one of resilience, hope, and an unwavering dedication to the communities she serves.

Marzieh Hosseinpoor

Marzieh’s journey is one of resilience and dedication to helping those in need. Growing up in Iran, she witnessed the struggles of marginalized communities, which sparked her passion for social work. After being forced to flee Iran in 2003 due to her advocacy for vulnerable groups, she resettled in India, where she earned her Master’s degree in Social Work.

Living in a country with a large refugee population, Marzieh saw the challenges refugees face—language barriers, cultural adjustment, and the difficulty of rebuilding their lives. Her own experience of displacement gave her a unique understanding of their struggles, especially the challenges faced by women.

Eventually, Marzieh arrived in the United States as a refugee. Despite the difficulties of starting over, she was determined to give back. With her background in social work and her personal experience, Marzieh dedicated herself to supporting refugee women, helping them navigate their new lives, access resources, and build a future. Today, she continues to empower refugee women, ensuring they have the tools they need to thrive in their new homes.
